Jacqueline
Penney
Artist, Author, Teacher and Lecturer
Jacqueline Penney won a scholarship to the
Phoenix School of Design in New York City, where she received an
excellent background in drawing and anatomy. After attending Black
Mountain College in North Carolina and the Institute of Design in
Chicago, she studied with
well-known artists across the country.
Penney is in Who’s Who
and in Who’s Who of American Women Artists & Teachers. Her award winning
paintings include a self-portrait entitled, "Me," that is in the
National Association of Women Artist's permanent collection housed at
the Zimmerli Art Museum. Among many other awards she received in the
course of her artistic career, Penney received First Prize for Landscape
in the 1998 Artist's Magazine's National Competition for her acrylic
painting, "Spruce Head Island."
Penney is best known for her realistic
pastoral scenes and seascapes. She paints predominantly with acrylics;
however, her creative talent and skill extend to several other mediums.
Jacqueline Penney's love of the Waterways is always present in her work,
which features subjects such as sailing, sandy beaches, ocean views and
warm tropical waters.
She captures the essence of the landscape; the
movement found in a seascape; and in all her work a thoughtful, peaceful
mood. Her paintings invite one to pause and rest, and provide a
simple, yet elegant expression of the ordinary transformed.
